On April 12, 2019, the FCC eliminated the Local Rate Floor rule that has been in effect since 2011. Had the FCC not eliminated the rule, many rural consumers would have seen their local phone bill increase from $18 to $26.98 on July 1, 2019.
The FCC will release an Order soon that will explain the details related to future reporting requirements, which likely will continue until 2020. We will keep you posted as we know more.
